Imphal, August 24 2015:
The Information Centre for Hill Areas, Manipur (ICHAM) has called upon all the communities of the State to bridge all kinds of communication gaps so that common issues besetting the State are addressed through collective efforts rather than pursuing ethno-centric agenda.
Speaking to media persons today, ICHAM secretary Ngachonmi Ramshang said that Manipur is a pluralistic society.
It is a matter of serious concern that misunderstandings crop up from time to time on account of baseless propaganda floated by different organisations/groups.
There is no harm in setting up new organisations but all organisations set up on the soil of Manipur should work for the welfare and integrity of the State.
Whatever differences that exist among the communities can be thrashed out through dialogue.
Posting provocative and communally charged remarks and comments on social media like facebook, twitter etc can pose a grave threat to communal harmony.
No one should misuse such communication tools and one must remain guarded against inciting communal violence and stoking communal passion.
People living outside the State should refrain from posting unfounded comments without knowing the ground reality, ICHAM president N Rajendro said.
He further appealed to the masses to refrain from making provocative, offensive remarks on social media sites.
