Non-operative opening of occluded heart valve successfully performed

Sky Hospital and Research Centre, Imphal has for the first time in Manipur successfully performed non-operative opening of an occluded heart valve on one patient named Suriya (18) of Keirang, Imphal East on August 22 by using a special technique and specialized balloon called INQUE BALLOON.
Such heart valve diseases called Rheumatic Mitral Stenosis is acquired from infection of heart and valves in childhood while symptoms of breathlessness or collapse start appearing in adolescence and young adult, said chairman and chief cardiologist of Sky Hospital, Dr L Shyamkishore.
Dr Shyamkishore said that the hospital has started providing such service to the people of Manipur thereby reducing the hardship of travel, accommodation, language problem and total cost of such treatments.
