Govt's attitude irks Ukhrul blast victims' families

Family members of the victims of the recent IED blast in the interior Ukhrul district on Friday expressed dismay with the State Government's "indifferent attitude" .
An IED blast at Kunthak village under Kasom Khullen sub-division of Ukhrul district on February 5 last had killed a villager and critically injured another.
They were yet to get any assistance from the State Government.
The family members alleged that the State Chief Minister was ignoring the "pain and grief" of the victims' family while pointing out that blast victims in the valley area were provided compensations and monetary assistants.
Members of the JAC formed in connection with the blast also warned that agitations will be launched soon after the ongoing HSLC and HSSL examinations were over if the State Government continued to ignore the victims
of the blast.
Convenor of the JAC Hillary Keishing said that they have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister with a copy to the Deputy Chief Minister on February 12 last, drawing their attention towards the plight of the villagers as well as victims' family members.
Among others, the JAC demanded compensation amounting to Rs 10 lakh to the bereaved family members and Rs 5 lakh to the injured.
