Demanding the decision of the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) not to invoke the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) norms in recruitment of lecturers for higher secondary schools, the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has announced its decision to ban the conduct of written test for selection of lecturers for higher secondary schools.
Speaking to reporters today at its office, AMSU president Th Naresh said that the norms of NCTE should be followed and adhered to in regard to recruitment of lecturers for higher secondary schools.
The students' body would never allow any adjustment of the NCTE regulations by the MPSC in this regard.
Master's degree in the relevant subject with BEd or its equivalent should be the eligibility criteria for lecturers of higher secondary schools, he said.
At the same time, the AMSU president also demanded the authority concerned of mission schools of Imphal to notify the number of seats available for Class I prior to the conduct of draw of lots for selecting students seeking admission in the schools this year.
