Demonstration staged at New Mongjang on proposed commandos deployment at Moreh

Tension gripped border town Moreh after State Police Department decided to deploy police commandos there.
According to an informed source, a team of police commandos left Imphal for Moreh this morning.
On getting information about it, a large number of Moreh denizens comprising of people from different communities gathered at New Mongjang on NH-2 from around 3 pm to block the commandos from entering to the border town.
Hill Tribal Council, Kuki Women Union Human Rights, Kuki Chiefs Association and Kuki Students' Organisation spearheaded the agitation.
The agitators blocked thehighway and burnt tyres and boulders there.
According to the agitators, law and order and peace is currently well maintained by Assam Rifles, Manipur Rifles, VDF and Manipur Police.There is no need for deployment of police commandos at Moreh, they said adding that intense agitation would be staged if the Government forcefully deploys commandos at the border town.
The agitators held placards that read as Where there are commandos, there is track of blood, 'We don't need commandos in Moreh', 'Go back commandos',' Do not disturb peace', We already have enough security forces', etc.
High ranking police officials of Chandel district rushed to New Mongjang to pacify any untoward incident.
Reports reaching here in the evening said that the team of police commandos who left Imphal in the morning halted at Tengnoupal and Lokchao till 730 pm.
