Pace of development in Manipur will slow down without work culture: Gaikhangam

Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam on Wednesday stated that the pace of development in Manipur will slow down if the people of the State do not acquire the habit of efficient work culture.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a multi-store market complex in Moreh.
Attending the function as Chief Guest, Gaikhangam stated that various communities with different religious and ethnic backgrounds have been living together in Moreh for a long time.
He however appealed all to leave aside their differences and narrow outlook so that they could hasten the pace of development besides striving to achieve peace in the State.
"Manipur will never be developed if the communities in the State fail to unite as one", said Gaikhangam.

The Home Minister further stated that Indian goods should also be stored and sold in the newly inaugurated market complex.
"People of the State should also try to explore the benefits of border trade", stated Gaikhangam.
Moreh has become an important bridge for connecting with all the countries of South East Asia and this is why the people should develop the town, said the Deputy Speaker.
The inaugural function was attended by Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam as President while Commerce Secretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India, Rita Tiotiya and 42-Tengnoupal A/C MLA D Korungthang being the Guests of Honour.
The undergoing construction work of Integrated Check Post in Moreh was also visited by a team led by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Commerce Secretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India, Rita Tiotiya.
Gaikhangam expressed dismay with the delay caused to construction work of the integrated check post.
The team also found only two to three labourers working during the visit.
On being asked her comments on the delay, the Commerce Secretary said that the status of the construction work will be reviewed once she reaches Delhi.
