Imphal, July 17 2012:
The fiasco in Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council has taken a complete new turn with the four defected ADC members going against both the former and present Sadar Hills ADC Chairman and opting for a Third Front.
Addressing media persons at Sadar Hills ADC office, Kangpoki today, the four defected ADC members namely S Khupsong Koireng, Sk Vaiphei, Bhumi Prashad and Paojolet Tonthang contended that they fled from the present ADC Chairman Haokholet Hangshing on their own volition and no one had instigated them to do so, as they are fed up over the administrative works by the present ADC Chairman Haokholal Hangshing as well as the attitudes of ex Chairman Sh Seipu.
Now, they want to form a Third Front and it is in the process of appointing a leader for the same.
SK Vaiphei said that he had earlier sided with Haokholet Hangshing and elected him as the Chairman in the hope of bringing about development of ADC.
However, his administration has completely failed and that has compelled him to leave him.
He also clarified that there was no instigation from MLA Nemcha Kipgen nor was he forcefully picked up by her security guards and appealed to the Congress leaders of the state to look into the matter.
Member Bhumi Prashad pointed out that the news which came out in the local dailies alleging that they were forcefully picked up by the security guards of MLA Nemcha Kipgen is false and baseless.
The office of SH-ADC which is presently stationed at the house of the Chairman is not acceptable.
The office should be placed at Kangpokpi.
Paojolet Tonthang, who was also present during the press conference, said that the incident which occurred on July 14 was provoked by Haokholet Hangshing.
On that day, unidentified gunmen severely beat up ADC members and even attempted to kill them.
The incident was highly condemned, he said, adding that Haokholet Hangshing is found out to be the Home Secretary of KRA, he maintained.
The Kangpokpi Police had also been informed through a written letter that the there is no case of missing of the four ADC members as certain individuals complaint earlier, he added.
