Voting for Presidential polls in state set
Election Observer to arrive today

Table has been set and arrangements made for casting of votes for the elections to the post of President of India in the Committee Room of Manipur State Legislative Assembly.
In connection with the Presidential elections scheduled on July 19, the Election Observers would be arriving here tomorrow.
Announcing this to media today, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state PC Lawmkunga said that voting for the Presidential elections in Manipur would be carried out in the Committee room of the State Legislative Assembly from 10 am to 5 pm on July 19.The CEO informed that the value of a vote of an MLA of the State is 18.Since there are 60 MLAs in the state, the total vote value from the state would be 1080 and the value of the votes for the three MPs of the state would be 708.The total vote value for the whole of India is 10,98,882 .
The Election Commission of India has appointed Anup Chandra Pandey, who is the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India as the Observer of Manipur.
He would be arriving at Imphal tomorrow.
Secretary General of Rajya Sabha, Vivek K Agnihotri has also been appointed as the Returning Officer while Y Indira, Secretary, Manipur State Legislative Assembly and M Ramani, Deputy Secretary of Manipur State Legislative Assembly as Assistant Returning Officers.
The CEO further informed that media persons holding the letter of authority issued by the ECI would be allowed to enter the polling station.
However, video and photo coverage of the voting compartments would be prohibited.
No cellular phones, codeless phones and wireless set would be allowed inside the polling station.
After casting of votes completed, the ballot box would be sent to Delhi the next day and the counting would be done on July 22 in room number 53 of the Parliamentary House, New Delhi, he CEO said, adding that the ballot boxes are presently being kept in the strong room under strict vigilance.
