Urea subsidy

Imphal, July 17 2012:
A Cabinet meeting held today has decided to provide a transport cum storage subsidy on urea amounting to Rs 4.27 crore.
As per the Cabinet decision, urea would be made available to distressed farmers across the State at Rs 278.80 per bag of 50 Kgs during the current kharif season, conveyed a press release issued by the Secretary to CM.
The District Agriculture Officials would oversee distribution of fertilizers in their districts to ensure sale of urea at the notified price.
The Government is also closely monitoring the rainfall pattern and status in the State and would take further actions as necessary to support the farming community.
The State Cabinet has also approved financial assistance of Rs one lakh each to the five athletes of Manipur who are participating in London Olympics 2012 .
The State athletes who are participating in the London Olympics are Mary Kom (Boxing), L Debendra (Boxing), L Bombayla (Archery), Ng Soniya (Weightlifting) and Kh Kothajit (Hockey) .
