In their effort to further encourage the youth in consonance with the 'Khelo India' initiative, Sajik Battalion under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) distributed Sports items to the youth of Sajik Tampak, Aigejang, Paldai, and Haika villages of Chandel district today.
The event was organised with the aim of fostering 'spirit of sportsmanship' in youth of Kana valley by providing them with basic sports facilities as these villages lack means and facilities for sports, said a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
In a similar instance, the Somsai Battalion of Assam Rifles distributed sports equipment to Choithar, Ngamju, Somdal, Tolloi, Phaibung and Maychon villages of western Ukhrul today.
This event was organised with the aim of providing educational aids to the schools in these remote villages along with promotion of sports culture among the youth, added the statement.
The village authorities and locals greatly lauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles for providing these resources to the villages.
Noney Battalion Assam Rifles under Headquarters 21 sector Assam Rifles and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) also distributed essential items at Charoi Chakotlong III village in Noney district today.
The event was organised with an aim to foster the bond of harmony between the armed forces and the local populace and to provide assistance to the needy villagers and also to promote and strengthen the peace and tranquillity in the region, said a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
The villagers were also educated on Covid-19 precautionary measures and undergoing vaccination drive to curb the pandemic, added the statement.
