The proscribed RPF/PLA has claimed that the Kambang Khullen attack, which had reportedly killed two personnel including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and wounded another two jawans belonging to the 24-Assam Rifles on March 11, was carried out under its newly launched 'Operation Leopard' .
According to a press statement issued by Roben Khuman, Secretary Publicity, Revolutionary People's front (RPF) on Thursday, a combined fighting team from PLA's unit, department, station and other departments of the outfit had successfully carried out the attack on the convoy of 24-AR on March 11 at around 2 pm.
It said the attack was carried out as part of the outfit's 'Operation Leopard' that has been launched recently.
The fighting team of the PLA, the armed wing of RPF, took position well in advance to launch the attack near Kambang Khullen under Chandel district after the outfit learnt that the convoy of the AR led by a Commanding Officer (CO) was moving on a patrol duty in and around Sita Khul under Tengnoupal Police Station, the statement said.

The statement further said the AR vehicle moving in the front of the convoy was hit and three personnel on board the vehicle were thrown out of it by the impact of the explosion and then plunged into a deep gorge.
Another three personnel were found dead inside the vehicle.
It added that the AR CO along with his subordinate personnel fled the deadly scene in different directions leaving behind the dead personnel as the assault inflicted heavy casualties on their side.
The PLA attackers later recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AR-M1F41, three magazines, 87 ammos, one pouch of magazine, one Insas LMG, one Insas rifle, two magazines, 47 ammos and one Motorola wireless set belonging to the AR team from the spot, it added.
The statement further added that the attack was swiftly completed within 15 minutes and the fighting team along with the seized weapons returned to the general headquarters of the outfit safe and sound.
It added the outfit's president and the general secretary thanked the PLA team for defeating the colonial soldiers during the first battle of the Operation Leopard encountered with the enemy 'mayang lanmee' .
On the other hand, the RPF said being a strategic partner it shows profound gratitude to the CPI (Maoist) for the Sukma district (Chhattisgarh) attack that had claimed 20 security personnel on March 11 .
