Imphal, July 07 2011:
The Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) has extended monetary aid to injured victims of the K Sinam landslide victims as well as the families of the deceased victims.
A team of TDC led by its chairman H Ranjit visited the injured victims and hospitals and extended monetary assistance.
Saying that the TDC was sharing pain and grief of the families of the deceased victims, Ranjit said that TDC would extend monetary assistance of Rs 10,000 each to the families of the deceased victims through the DGP.
Of the seven personnel injured in the incident, five have gone back to their homes while IRB personnel Takhellambam Sunil (23) of Thoubal Athokpam is undergoing treatment at RIMS.
1st MR personnel Sangdong Maring (31) of Sandrok Maring is undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital.
The TDC gave Rs 5000 each to Sunil and Sangdong.
Saying that they understood the difficulties faced by State security personnel who were detailed for escort duty along ImphalJiribam highway, Ranjit said that the little assistance they extended to the bereaved families and the injured personnel was guided by this understanding.
The face of the hill which slid down yesterday may again fall apart any time.
As such, it demands immediate attention of the Government, Ranjit asserted.
On August 24 last year, there was a massive landslide near K Sinam village but fortunately there was no casualty as no commuter was passing by the area at the moment.
