Imphal, October 05 2016:
Twelve more persons have tested positive for Dengue at Thangmeiband area, after three from the same area tested positive a few days back.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Health Director Dr O Ibomcha said that 15 samples were collected from the area where the three persons had tested positive earlier.
The blood samples were tested at the laboratory at JNIMS and out of the 15 tested, 12 proved positive, he added.
Speaking further the Director said that all the blood samples were collected within a radius of 100 metres from where the first cases of Dengue were reported.
This means that it appears to be limited within a 100 metre radius and as such the people should not get panicky, he added.
Health workers were deputed to the area, said the Director and added that fifty water tanks in the area were examined.
In one such tank, the health workers found the larvae of mosquitoes which transmit Dengue, he added.
The Health Department has taken up all the necessary measures to contain the spread of the disease, added the Director.
So far 16 persons have tested positive for Dengue in the State.
