ATUM rebuffs allegation

Imphal, March 01 2016:
The Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur (ATUM) has deeply
condoled the death of assistant teacher of Molnom Junior high
School, Thongkhogin Haokip of Molnom village.
The union
has also rebuffed the allegations raised by some group that
Thongkhogin was killed by people of Aimol Satu.
In a press conference held today at Kakching Lamkhai,
S Bunte Aimol, secretary in charge of ATUM said on
February 29, men and women numbering more than 400
armed with sticks, rods and guns stormed the village creating chaos and fear among the villagers.
The group damaged the village gates and burnt houses,
vehicles and also killed many domestic animals in the presence of State security personnel.
Villagers had to flee from
the village fearing a communal clash, he stated.
The union has requested the State Government to look
into the matter and provide necessary relief to the displaced
villagers.
Strongly condemning the attack, the union said the al-
legation that Thongkhogin was killed by people of Aimol
Satu is baseless.
He has appealed the concerned to with-
draw the allegation levelled against the people of Aimol
Satu.
Villagers of Asan Aimol, Areng Aimol, Chingnunghut
Aimol and Thirsutlow Aimol attended the press conference.
