Imphal, June 23 2012:
Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur State branch would be launching a statewide one-day token strike on June 25 in protest against alleged suppressive policies of Government of India.
The strike, however, would not cover emergencies services.
During the strike, members of IMA Manipur State Branch would stage a dharna in front of the Medical Directorate, Lamphelpat to express their dissent against the suppressive policies of the Union Government with regard to introduction of NCHRH Bill-2011, Clinical Establishment Act and Dissolution of MCI and 3rd consecutive term for its automatically appointed Board of Governors.
It is said that introduction of NCHRH Bill-2011 would affect the medical practice as National Commission for Human Resources in Health (NCHRH) would be a super arching body for all the Councils of medical profession.
By then the power of the Medical Council of India, Dental Council, Pharmacist Council and Nursing Council would be lost and action taken by the National Commission would not be challengeable in any Court of Law.
