Education Minister pays surprise visit to ZEO Cdl

Amidst the State Government's attempt to make reform in the education sector, the filthiness and shabby office building of Chandel Zonal Education Office has annoyed the Education Minister today.
The Minister also instructed the officials concerned to take up punitive action against four staff of the ZEO who did not attend office without prior information today.
The minister made a surprise visit to ZEO Chandel along with Chandel AC MLA, Nunglung Victor, Karong MLA Dr Alexander, officials of the Education department.
The Minister was also annoyed at seeing the filthy office where books meant for distribution to the 51 schools covered by the ZEO laying scattered on the floor.
He also assured the construction and providing of shortage infrastructures within a short time.
The Minister also checked the attendance register of the office and noticed the absence of four staff including an UDC without any reason.
He instructed the officials to serve explanation call to the absentee staff and take up necessary action against them.
The team later inspected the lone School of Chandel headquarters that has over a thousand students, Machi Union Higher Secondary School.
He assured to provide necessary infrastructure to the school within a short time while also assuring to provide seven teachers to the school at the first opportunity.
The team also inspected the construction of FCS Building at Leirungtabi which is known for making slow progress towards completion while also inspecting site for construction of FCI godown at Liwa Sarei.
The team also visited South East Manipur College wherein the Education Minister gave assurance for providing necessary infrastructure to the college.
MLA Nunghlung Victor also expressed confidence that the Government would put efforts to bring development in the district at par with other districts.
