Imphal, July 20 2020:
Seeking intervention of the Governor again, veteran politician O Joy has today submitted a memorandum in connection with the affidavit filed by Th Brinda, former Additional SP, NAB.
Speaking to media persons at his residence at Kakwa this evening, O Joy said that the memorandum was submitted along with a copy of the affidavit filed by Th Brinda to the High Court of Manipur in response to the contempt case registered against her following a series of event in connection with alleged Lhukhosei Zou drug haul case.
As per the affidavit, the Chief Minister is named as urging the police officer to go slow on the case and thus his council of Ministers, close aides are somehow involved, he alleged.
The Governor is the Constitutional head of the State, custodian of Rule of Law and Justice and a representative of the Union Government and thus bears an important role in upholding the true spirit of democracy, he said.
To ensure a transparent proceeding of the case and justice, the Governor should advise the CM to step down from his post and send a detailed report of the prevailing situation of the State to the Centre.
