Headman, ADC members, pastor visit village quarantine centres

A team of Ukhrul ADC members, pastor, village authorities including Hunphun/Ukhrul Covid Committee members led by headman HA Sarimaya today visited the quarantine centres in Hunphun/Ukhrul village in order to show concerns and to know the condition of the returnees lodged in the different the quarantine centres.
Rev Ayonsui Shingnaisui, Pastor Hunphun Baptist Church (HBC), Ukhrul read out a Bible text and said special prayers for all the inmates.
During the visiting, headman HA Sarimaya and Ukhrul ADC members HA Vareishang and Edmund Chiphang handed over cash to the respective locality chairmen for purchasing food items to be included in the inmates' mess menu.
Convener of Hunphun/Ukhrul Covid-19 Committee Phungton Shaiza expressed that the main objective of visiting quarantine centres is to show care and to make inmates understand why all returnees have to undergo another 14 days mandatory village quarantine.
It is for the safety of all and to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at the community level.
It might be mentioned that Hunphun/Ukhrul is the biggest village in Ukhrul district having 28 localities.
More than 60,000 residential population from different Tangkhul villages are settled here.
Phungton further informed that Hunphun/Ukhrul Covid-19 Committee has established 22 village quarantine centres and is running the largest quarantine centre in Ukhrul district.
Any individuals willing to quarantine were given accommodation.
Over 800 returnees were lodged in the centres run by Hunphun/Ukhrul Covid Committee for another 14 days after they were discharged from Government run CQCs.
Phungton said that rations were provided by Ukhrul MLA Alfred Arthur Kanngam to all the quarantine centres under 44- AC, Ukhrul.
The team visited 5 quarantine centres established by Hunphun/Ukhrul Covid-19 Committee at Town Hall Phungreitang, KTL Excel school Seipet Ramlung, Oriental Naga Academy Harkuikathe, Tribal hostel Greenland and Ngachonmi Fund Awungtang, Ukhrul and interacted with the inmates of these centres.
