Leishemba Sanajaoba, who recently captured the lone Rajya Sabha seat of Manipur has stated that he will first visit the hill areas and will try to address their needs and requirements after he takes oath as an MP at the Parliament on July 22 .
He made the statement during a cleanliness drive conducted in the vicinity of Shree Shree Govindaji Temple today and just a few hours before he left for New Delhi to take oath as the MP of Rajya Sabha.
The cleanliness drive was jointly organised by Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation Manipur, Shree Shree Govindaji Barti Seva; Divine Life Society; Shree Shree Govindaji Dhup Aarti, Manipur Geeta Mandal, Nata Sankirtan Cultural Centre, Shree Shree Govindaji Temple Board, Imphal East District Police, Manipur Fire Service, Wangkhei Angom Leikai Club and other local clubs and organisations.
Chairman of the Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation and MP elect, Leishemba Sanajaoba; Yaiskul AC MLA, Th Satyabrata; Kshetrigao AC MLA, N Indrajit; SP Imphal East were prominent figures among others who participated in the cleanliness drive.
Speaking at the occasion, Leishemba Sanajaoba said that he will take stock of the infrastructural, power, connectivity and other requirements of the hill districts right after he takes oath as a Rajya Sabha MP.
A survey regarding the needs of the people will be conducted and he will approach the relevant Ministries for required actions, he said while adding that he wants equitable development across the State.
"The oath taking ceremony of elected Rajya Sabha MPs will be conducted on July 22 at around 11 am.
I will be leaving Delhi for the same by 3 pm today," he said while adding that he will be taking oath in Manipuri Language.
He will be wearing traditional clothes and swear in the name of Lainingthou Sanamahi, Ibudhou Pakhangba and Shree Shree Govinda, he continued.
Sanajaoba also maintained that the cleanliness drive was conducted as the vicinity of the Temple was overgrown owing to lack of maintenance after the imposition of the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Temple is one of the major tourist attractions and a sacred place for many, he remarked while maintaining that it is the responsibility of all to keep the temple and its vicinity neat and clean.
