Imphal, July 20 2020:
In addition to staging a sit-in protest today against the State Government's failure to regularise work charge muster roll and casual employees of PWD, PHED, WRD and MID, the All Manipur PWD Employees & Workers Association (AMPWDEWA) has decided to launch an indefinite cease work strike from tomorrow.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the sit-in protest staged in front of PWD office building, Khoyathong, AMPWDEWA general secretary Salam Chandra said that a large number of work charge, muster roll and casual employees of PWD, PHED, WRD and MID, some of whom have been working for over 30 years, have not been regularised till date.
With regard to implementation of the 7th Pay, a five-point MoU was signed among the State Government, Manipur Secretariat Services Association, Manipur Government Services Federation and Manipur State Pensioners' Union on June 8, 2018.The fourth point of the MoU categorically stated that the problems faced by work charge, muster roll and casual employees would be addressed shortly but nothing has been done so far, Chandra decried.
As a result, many work charge, muster roll and casual employees working in PWD, PHED, WRD and MID for long years have retired without their service ever regularised, he said.
On account of the State Government's failure to translate the MoU signed in 2018 into action, the Manipur Government Services Federation has been on cease work strike since many days back.
AMPWDEWA would also join the cease work strike from tomorrow, said the general secretary.
He added that essential services and COVID-19 related activities would be exempted from the purview of the cease work strike.
