Gaikhangam inaugurates 5 new police stations

Home Minister Deputy Gaikhangam said on Wednesday all police stations would be fully computerized soon and that the process had already begun.
Gaikhangam, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister, informed this while formally inaugurating five police stations�four in Thoubal district and one in Imphal East�constructed under the Police Modernisation Scheme.
They are Pallel PS constructed at the cost of Rs 3.23 crore, Heirok PS and Nongpok Sekmai PS at Rs 3.12 crore each, Yairipok PS at Rs 3 crore and Andro PS at 4.67 crore.
Informing that more development works were carrying out in several districts under the State Police Department, Gaikhangam added that the Government was set to open more under-construction police stations in other districts too.

He informed that all police stations in the valley would be fully computerized and that the installation process had already started.
Commenting on the current fracas over the banning of all Catholic Schools in the State, the Home Minister described the incident as "crude" .
He asserted that schools should not be disturbed at all and appealed for ensuring a disturbance-free academic atmosphere.
Gaikhangam stated that militancy had been contained in some extent in Manipur.
"Now, we don't see underground cadres moving with weapons" .
"The Home Department is also renovating a lot of police stations.
Plans are also afoot to recruit more police personnel to address the problem of shortage of personnel," he said.
But Gaikhangam said the Centre had already intimated the State Government that the Police Modernisation Scheme would not be implemented further.
He said the Manipur Government has proposed the Centre for installation of an X-Ray scanner along the Imphal-Moreh road and expressed hope that the Centre would accept it.
"E-tender is now under process for installation of new CCTVs in and around Imphal city area.
Already installed CCTVs in the city will be repaired too," he added.
Gaikhangam said that the present Manipur Police Department Headquarter building has become an outdated one and further informed that there was a plan to construct a new building for it near the Tasar Research Centre in Mantripukhri.
In a media query, Gaikhangam, who is also the president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), disclosed that his party will field candidates in all the seats in the ensuing ADC polls.
Education Minister M Okendro, Parliamentary Secretary K Meghchandra, MLAs Y Surchandra, DK KOrungthang and DGP of Manipur Police Shahid Ahmad and other top police officials were also present on the occasion.
