64th Plenary of NEC begins today

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region (DoNER) Dr Jitendra Singh will chair a two-day 64th Plenary Meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Delhi on Thursday.
Governors and Chief Ministers of all eight Northeastern States and senior officers from State Governments, Union Ministries and others will attend the meeting.
Dr Jitendra Singh will address the inaugural session followed by sector-wise discussions on the progress of major infrastructure projects in the Northeast.
Various ministries will give power-point presentations on the projects.
The Ministry of Home Affairs will give a presentation on Border Trade; Status on Integrated Check-Posts (ICPs); Land Custom Stations; Border Haats; Banks; Visa facility, etc.
Presentation on financial inclusion and banking services issues in the Northeast including Low Credit Disbursal Ratio (CDR) and Agri Credit will be given by the Department of Financial Services.
On Friday, the Governors and Chief Ministers of Northeastern States will give their remarks and comments.
During the two-day meeting, the Annual Plan and the Gross Budgetary Support of the NEC for 2015-16 is also expected to be approved.
In connection with the 64th Plenary of NEC, the Manipur State Planning Department had on April 1 instructed various departments to furnish write-ups on major development projects in the State and issues relating to respective sector besides suggestions.
The Chief Minister will use these reports to raise pertinent issues in the plenary meeting.
The Governor's remarks will also depend on these write-ups.
The Planning Department Director Dr Th Muhindro Singh had directed the departments to furnish the requisite information latest by April 4 .
State officials who would be participating in the meeting are Secretary to the Governor Th Chitaranjan; Additional Chief Secretary O Nabakishore; Commissioner Planning and Finance Vineet Joshi; Planning Director Dr Th Muhindro Singh; Joint Director N Kulkarni Devi; Joint Secretary Education (U) L Iboyaima and Transport Joint Director BK Sharma.
