Imphal, April 08 2015 :
Power which had been cut off during a severe thunder storm was partially restored in some areas from Wednesday morning.
Many other remote villages, however, are reeling under the power outage now.
Most of the transmission lines had been snapped by the strong wind a few days ago.
The employees have been repairing the snapped transmission lines.
Life came to a standstill during the power outage causing untold inconveniences to the people.
Meanwhile consumers at several places have been facing power shutdowns for days together on the pretext that new lines are being installed for pre-payment connections.
It is different from the present naked wires and illegal connections cannot be made from the new transmission lines.
For unexplained reasons the agency is taking a long time in the installation.
Officials said that once the switch-over to the pre-payment system is complete the agency will be in a position to supply uninterrupted power to the consumers.
The explanation is that there will be no power theft.
Since tax will be collected in advance the agency would pay and buy power from other sources round the clock.
Today the agency is buying power worth over Rs 20 crore per month.
However it collects hardly Rs 6 crore per month from the consumers.
