Imphal, April 08 2015 :
Terming the alleged spiteful behaviour of the Additional SP of Kangpokpi towards student leaders of IGNTU on April 6 as an act of hostility towards tribal community, the KSO (Gen Hqtrs) has warned of launching a general strike with like minded tribal student organisations if the Govt fails to remove and suspend the Addl SP.
"His offensive remarks and behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
The tribal students will not take this insult lying down," a statement issued by Laxmon Serto, information secretary of KSO (Ghqs) said.
On Monday, the office bearers of IGNTU student union had gone to visit the IGNTU main campus at Makhan over issues concerning the university.
On seeing the students, the police officer, in civil dress, accosted the student leaders and started making derogatory remarks without any rhyme or reason, the KSO alleged.
When the students reacted, the officer assaulted the union office bearers in which two of them bore the brunt.
The officer shouted insults by remarking that the student leaders are incapable of tackling the university issues.
He stated that he can solve all their problems if they submit their charter of demands to him.
Showing solidarity with the IGNTU students, the KSO supported their initiatives vis--vis their demands which includes the removal and suspension of the 'uncouth' police officer.
If the Government fails to remove and suspend the Addl SP in a week time the KSO and like-minded tribal student organizations will launch a general strike, it warned while urging the authority concerned to take serious note of this public statement and initiate prompt action against the pompous police officer.
