All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) appealed private schools located in the hill areas under Manipur State jurisdictions and schools in the valley managed by tribal communities to withhold the submission of Class X examination forms to the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) which is due on December 16, 2015 .
The ANSAM directive comes just a day after BOSEM had announced the extension of option for offering Additional English for two academic sessions (2015-2016 and 2016-2017) to the tribal students whose mother tongue is not in the list of Modern Indian Language (MIL) of curriculum of the Board for Class IX and X .
ANSAM in a press release issued by Information and Publicity Secretary In-charge James Inka stated that the association will now take up democratic forms of agitation if the Government of Manipur failed to totally revoke the order dated on March 11, 2013 on or before December 10, 2015 .
ANSAM said that as per the decision taken in the Presidential Council meeting of the association held on Saturday, all the private schools located in the hill districts in Manipur and school in the valley managed by tribal communities have been informed to withhold the submission of Class X examination forms.
He said the decision was in reaction to the State Government's apathy to the demand of ANSAM and various tribal student bodies for the revocation of the Government Order vide no.A/SC/6/V/76/pt-11 dated March 2013 which removes Additional English from the scheme of study at IX and X Standards under State Board.
James Inka further stated that the decision was taken after an extensive discussion with all stakeholders and with the objective of ensuring justice for all the tribal students in the State.
He appealed for cooperation of all stakeholders towards securing the future of the tribal students in the State.
