Missing L Poumai found dead; Senapati extends solidarity, PNTM decries

After four days of desperate search for the missing boy identified as L Poumai (23), son of Low of Purul Akutpa Village under Purul sub-division, his lifeless body was found at Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on December 1. The deceased L Poumai hailed from Purul Akutpa Village but was presently residing in Khabung Karong (Senapati District) .
Soon after the report of finding his body in Odisha, the Senapati DHQ downed its shutters and all vehicles along the NH-2 were also halted for two hours as a mark of respect to the deceased.
Meanwhile, Poumai Students Union (PNTM) has expressed strong resentment over the brutal killing of an innocent person in Odisha and demanded the State Government to react immediately to the murder case and initiate necessary actions.
PNTM warned that they will not remain silent over the issue if justice is not delivered to the victim's family members.
Sources also added that the PNTM led by its President Theophilus Rangmathat met the Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus for urgent intervention.
The Principal Secretary, Home, Government of Manipur has been briefed on the matter and communication between Manipur and Odisha Chief Secretaries into the murder case is understood to have started, the source added.
Talking to media persons at Senapati, L Paul elder brother of Poumai said that his brother was travelling to Bangalore by train from Dimapur on November 29 when he made a distress call to his family members at around 4.55 pm complaining that around five unidentified persons were threatening him and his mobile phone was disconnected after the call.
The train reached Bangalore on November 30 but L Poumai was found missing, he said while adding that his body was found at Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Odisha three days later on December 1 .
Unconfirmed reports suggest that, he was murdered in cold blood and his lifeless body was thrown out of the moving train.
