Prior to the celebration of inscribing Manipuri Sankirtana on UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list in December 6, 2013, an interaction programme was held on Saturday at the residence of Brinda Sabi at Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai.
The programme was organised by State Level Organising Committee for International Sankirtana Celebration and participated by Meeteis from outside the State and various hill tribes among others.
During the programme, Meeteis from Myanmar, Bangladesh were presented with photos which are related with the State's history.
It may be mentioned that Manipuri Sankirtana, an art form conceived by the famous erstwhile Manipur king Bhagyachandra in the 18th century, was inscribed on the Representative List of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Stephen Angkang Tangkhul said that Meeteis and Tangkhuls should meet and talk on a regular basis to discuss the history of the State.
Frequent meetings will clear the doubts in the minds and it will bring unity in Manipur.
Meeteis and Tangkhuls need to rekindle the close relation between the two so as to bring peace and development in Manipur, added Stephen Angkang Tangkhul.
