Designated Officer FSA, Imphal East, DO i/c Jiribam has directed food business operators/all restaurants owners in Imphal East and Jiribam to display Food Safety Display Board (FSDB) at all times at prominent place in the premises indicating the FSSAI license number.
The direction is to ensure the compliance of conditions of license mentioned in the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Business) Regulations, 2011 and subsequent Amendment Regulation, 2018, said a statement of T Brojendro Khaba Meitei, DO FSA IE, DO i/c Jiribam today.

FSDB shall be printed on A3 .size cardboard material and can be displayed at the entrances, reception areas, billing areas etc so that it can be viewed by customers.
Non-compliance of the direction by the restaurants owners beyond October 15 will attract strict punishment as per the provisions of the Food Safety Act, Rules and Regulations, it said.
Ban on use of staple pins in tea bags: The DO FSA has also informed that in pursuance of the Food Safety and Standards Authority FDA, Government of India, the use of staple pins in tea bags is banned.
The use of staple pins in tea bags poses potential health hazards to consumers since any loose staple pin consumed inadvertently with tea may cause serious health hazard, said a separate statement of the DO FSA.
Considering the risk of using staple pin tea bags, the Food Safety Authority of Manipur had directed the concerned food business operators to discontinue the manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import of stapled tea bags by January 1, it said.
Any individual/food business operator found violating the order shall be laible for punishment under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 .
