Visitors, travellers barred entry to Namphalong Market for two hours by 11 AR

Business persons, travelers and tourists from Imphal and other places of Manipur who have visited Moreh, other than the local populace of Moreh, were refused to enter at Namphalong Market for about two hours by 11 Assam Rifles posted at Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate No 2, report our correspondent.
Since early morning, many people who have come from Imphal and other places of Manipur were restricted from entering Namphalong market for about two hours, which is one of the largest and most happening markets at India-Myanmar border.
However, the restriction reportedly was not imposed on the local populace, it added.
The restriction has caused major inconveniences to the travelers and business persons from Imphal and other places, added our correspondent.
After Additional Superintendent of Police K Robinsun, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (IPS) Sandip Gopal Das and Immigration Officer In-charge Md Tajjudin held a meeting with the officer of 11 Assam Rifles posted at Gate No 2 at their camp at around 9 am, the officers reportedly revealed that they were following orders from High command to impose restriction on the movement of people other than the local populace of Moreh at Indo- Myanmar Friendship Gate No 2 to sensitize the border area.
They further informed that the restriction to enter Namphalong market will not be imposed for people who reside within 16 Km of the border.
However, if the people, who reside beyond 16 Km of the border, want to enter Namphalong market then they have to take pass from Immigration Office, they added.
According to Assam Rifles, the restriction was imposed today to create awareness about the new development for the people of Manipur.
Later, people were allowea enter the market as usual.
