Differently abled persons march for voter's rights

Imphal, October 05 2018:
Differently abled community organised a march for voter's rights from Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School, Uripok to DC complex, Lamphelpat today.
The rally was organised by District Electoral Officer (DEO)/ DC in connection with Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) .
The registration of electoral roll has started from September 1 and will continue till October 31.The rally was conducted under the theme "I am ready to make the right choice".
Participants carried placards to disseminate messages such as "we are proud to be a voter", "no voter to be left behind", we are ready to vote", we are registered, are you?" Around 300 persons took part in the rally along with DC office staffs and teachers of differently abled institutes.
Students, teachers and members from Govt Deaf & Mute School Takyel, Government Ideal Blind School Takyel, Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Manipur Singjamei Northern Disability Institute Loitang Leikinthabi and All Manipur Mentally Handicapped Organization Mongsangei participated in the rally.
DC and DEO of Imphal West Naorem Praveen said that the rally aims at bringing qualitative electoral process with maximum people participation.
"These differently abled people are registered in Electoral Photo ID Card (EPIC) and they are ready to vote," he said and appealed people who are not yet registered to enrol.
District SVEEP Nodal Officer Neerbhama Achom said, the rally was also participated by Electoral Registration Officer of seven Constituent Assemblies of Imphal West.
Hamom Sadananda, contemporary singer and actor has been appointed as District Icon of electoral roll of Imphal West and for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election to be held in 2019 .
