Electorate of 12/4 Kanankhu polling station under 12-District Headquarters DCC staged a sit in protest at DC Lamkhai Waiting Shed in Chandel District on Friday demanding the arrest of those who tried to disrupt polling and to disqualify candidates who instigated them.
The voters alleged there was proxy voting.
If there was proxy voting, why the polling agents did not lodge any complaint to the Presiding Officer, they said.
The voters maintained that it was the workers of these candidates who were trying to disrupt the poll by attempting to pour ink inside the ballot box.

After the attempt to disrupt voting failed, the four candidates and their workers threatened the Presiding Officer Arun Kumar at his residence the next day and forced him to rewrite his report which was earlier submitted along with the ballot box to the Election Officer.
The Election Officer recommended 12/4 Kanankhu Polling Station for conducting repoll according to the re-written report which was re-submitted.
Instead of punishing and arresting the culprit who tried to disrupt the election process, how come the Election Officer of the District worked in connivance of these four candidates and recommended for conducting re-poll, asked the voters.
Meanwhile, the Village Authorities of Daampi, Kanankhu and Kurkam Village in Chandel District have urged for free and fair voting in the repoll at 12/4 Kanankhu Polling Station .In a joint statement signed by Chief of Daampi Village Anglun Lamkang, Chief Kanankhu Dalruwng Anal and Chief of Kurkam Benganchung Moyon, it has been pointed out that repolling in the 12/4 Kanankhu Polling Station was due to the involvement of non voters/ outsiders whose intension was to disturb peaceful voting.
The the joint Statement also warned that if any individuals or parties are found creating trouble and disturbance during the repoll, the Village Authorities will consider them as a criminal and necessary action will be taken up to punish them befittingly.
