Priest denounces non-complaince with Court order by police

Lai Shellungba (priest) of Lainingthou
Sanamahi Devata of Wangoi village, Longjam Boss Meitei has
denounced the alleged non-compliance with Court order by
Wangoi police station authority regarding the injunction case filed
against illegal annexation of farmland of Lainingthou Sanamahi,
Wangoi village.
Boss said that a case was filed at Civil Judge Sen-
ior Division, Imphal West against illegal annexation of farmland
of about 2.46 acres and converting it into a football field by Wangoi
Football Association and the Youth's Enlivement Organistion for
organizing a football tournament in the disputed land, disturbing
the peaceful possession and cultivation of the land by Lai
Shellungba (priest) of Lainingthou Sanamahi Devata, Wangoi vil-
lage.
He added that all relevant documents and data regarding
land holding rights of the land is with the Lai Shellungba
(priest) of Lainingthou Sanamahi Devata and the Court has
directed the organizers of the tournament to restrain from
entering the suit land as it will lead to multiplicity of cases.
Even as the Court had directed the OC of Wangoi Police
Station to take up necessary steps, the law enforcing agencies
have failed to comply with the directive.
To prevent any
untoward incidents later, the police should take up action at the
earliest, he said.
The police should be held responsible if any incidents
happen to stop such unlawful land encroachment, Boss said.
He urged the people of Manipur to support the cause in saving
the land of Lainingthou Sanamahi.
