Imphal, March 05 2016 :
The JAC formed against the death of Hatneikim Zou has demanded the Government to constitute a medical team and conduct fresh post mortem examination of the woman's body.
Speaking to reporters at a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, JAC convenor Th Mina Chothe said that Hatneikim Zou alias Akim (32) w/o Tungnung Joseph of Lamlanghupi Chotea village under Bishnupur Ward No 12 had been staying at her aunt's place at Nungsai Chiru with her husband to earn their livelihood.
She also said that on February 28, Hatneikim Zou never returned home after she went to Lamlanghupi Chotea to see their two children.
The next day at around 7.30 am, police informed Hatneikim's family that the woman was found hung to death at Kwak Siphai Nga-krapat.
Police had already taken Hatneikim's body to morgue when her family reached Kwak Siphai Ngakrapat without conducting any forensic and Magisterial inquest, Mina alleged.
Post mortem examination was conducted on the same day in the presence of a Duty Magistrate and since then the body has been lying at the morgue as an unclaimed body.
She said that on March 1, they submitted a memorandum to the Government demanding arrest of the killers within one week.
Expressing suspicion of foul play, the memorandum also demanded the Government to order a judicial inquiry to probe the incident and initiate steps to protect women and children from violence and crime.
The JAC also demanded compensation for the family of the deceased.
She lamented that despite this memorandum, police told them that post mortem report had confirmed the incident as a suicide case and they would dispose off the body as per the order of Bishnupur DC if it is not claimed within 24 hours.
