Khurkhul area should not come under Sadar Hills

The Apunba Khurkhul Nupi Chaokhat Lup has reportedly demanded that the tribal villages in Khurukhul area should not come under Sadar Hills under any circumstances in the public hearing of the Committee on Re-organisation of Administrative and Police Boundaries held at the conference hall of the office of Chief Secretary at Secretariat today.
Speaking to reporters after giving their statements, Kh Damenti, member of the Apunba Khurukhul Nupi Chaokhat Lup said that they have made it clear that none of the tribal villages in Khurkhul area should be included under the proposed Sadar Hills district and the Dag number one area of Khurkhul should also be demarcated at the earliest.
Akhu Kamei, Convenor of the Committee Against the Creation of Sadar Hills District, who was also present and gave statements in the public hearing said that they have proposed for integration of various Zeliangrong villages in Senapati and Churachandpur district with Tamenglong district and have made their decision know that if in case the proposal was denied then various forms of agitation would be launched.
He recalled that the Committee Against the Creation of Sadar Hills District organized a public rally on November 17 in protest against the MoU signed between the government and the SHDDC and a memorandum to the Governor and Chief Minister in the regard.
The village Chief of Pongreilong (Charoipandongba) after giving statement in the public hearing also told reporters that he had proposed the Committee to place Pongreilong Village, which is presently under Senapati district, with Nungba Sub -Division of Tamenglong district since it is very near to Nungba as compared to Senapati district head quarters.
