CM on inauguration spree at Khundrakpam AC

Blaming economic blockade enforced for over 100 days for the delay in completing the Dolaithabi Barrage in Imphal East district, Chief Minister Okram ibobi Singh affirmed that the said barrage would be inaugurated in May next.
Addressing a public gathering at Ereima Playground in Sagolmang after inauguration as well as laying foundation stones of various projects under Khundrakpam assembly constituency, the Chief Minister said imposition of the economic blockade hampered transportation of construction materials consequently causing delay in completing the Dolaithabi Barrage, which was scheduled for inauguration ahead of the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
The Chief Minister earlier in the day inaugurated the 33/11 KV power sub-station at Yumnam Patlou near Sagolmang and Sagolmang Police Station under Khundrakpam AC in Imphal East District besides laying the foundation stone for construction of Imphal East District Hospital at Sagolmang.

The 33/11 KV power sub-station which would cover 69 villages under Sagolmang and Yumnam Khunou was constructed under Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources at a total amount of Rs 537.13 lakhs.
The Sagolmang police station was constructed under the Special Plan Assistance amount of Rs 4,02,66,716 and would cover about 61 villages.
The total area of the complex is about 5 acres.
The proposed 100 bedded District Hospital at Sagolmang has an area of 10 acres and would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 62 crores.
It is targeted for completion within three years.
Elucidating on the new projects, the Chief Minister stated that these constructions will go a long way in helping the people of the area and urged them to properly utilize the schemes and projects given to them by the government.
He also stated that the Sagolmang police station is part of an effort of the state government to strengthen functioning of the Police and also to bring administration closer to the people of the area.
Urging the people to extend cooperation to the police in the latter's efforts to maintain law and order in the area, Ibobi also stressed on the need for the police personnel to maintain discipline while on duty and ensure that the people feel protected and secured in their presence.
The Chief Minister also said that the power sub-station which was inaugurated today would lend stability to power supply to the area to a great extent.
While noting that power supply to the area was earlier through the distant Karong power sub-station in Senapati district, he expressed confidence that problem of erratic power supply faced by the people in the past could be ameliorated with the functioning of the new sub-station.
The public gathering at Ereima Playground, which was held to highlight various flagship schemes and other development programmes initiated and implemented by the UPA and SPF Government was also attended by Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, Health Minister L Jayentakumar, Deputy Speaker Th Lokeshwar Singh, Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board E Dwijamani Singh, MLA Prithiviraj Singh and DGP Y Joykumar Singh.
Among others, the Deputy Speaker speaking at the occasion affirmed that transforming the least developed Khundrakpam assembly constituency on par with more developed assembly constituencies would be his top priority.
He also pointed out that only through development could there will peace and social harmony in Manipur.
