Imphal, December 16 2011:
The five UNLF cadres who were present at the surrender function held yesterday at Hqs IG AR (S), Mantripukhri were deserters and retired cadres.
Of the five cadres, a few were given forced retirement about 5/6 years back while the remaining cadres deserted the party this year, the UNLF clarified in a press release issued by its senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba.
The five UNLF/MPA cadres who were present at the surrender function were Rafi alias Akber who was possibly listed in the party's list under serial No 1542 as Nasir Hussain alias Md Rafique s/o Abdul Rasique of Kwakta Ward No 5, Cpl Tensubam Sandesh alias Chinglaingamba (serial No 1373) s/o Seitendra of Jiribam Sorok Atingbi, Pte Wahengbam Rakhesh alias Sandokpa (Sr No 2126) s/o W Muhindro of Toubul Awang Leikai, Khumukcham Amuthoi who was listed under serial No 1989 as L/Cpl Khumukcham Boinao alias Tamyanganba s/o Kh Tomba of Kakching Khunou Uchan Makhong and Soibam Inao Meitei listed under serial number 2238 as Soibam Bhim alias Yaitongba s/o S Sharat of Wangoi Laiphrakpam Mama ng Leikai, said the UNLF statement.
Quoting IG AR (S) Maj Gen UK Gurung's statement "they were genuine cadres", the UNLF remarked that UK Gurung was only trying to cover up the surrender dramas they enacted in the past.
Yesterday's function was continuation of the surrender drama which has been going on for the last few years, it alleged.
Those masked surrenderees would be given shelter at military camps and they would be used as oppressive agents against the people as was done in the 1990's in the name of Tha Kaba.
In the same manner, the Indian military has been using those masked surrenderees to commit anti-social activities in the name of KCP (Lalumba) or any name of KCP.
Those who are wittingly participating in such fake surrender dramas are black sheep and they would be given exemplary punishment, the UNLF asserted.
It also cautioned the people to be always on alert against the Indian military's policy of using retired UG cadres against the people and the
liberation movement.
