Tamenglong, February 09 2010:
To enhance proper of implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Schemes, NREGS in Tamenglong District, the administration has recruited as many as 559 NREGS Mates for the whole district of Tamenglong.
Out of 559 NREGS Mates, 192 alone are for Tamenglong block, 96 Mates are for Tamei Block, 73 Mates for Nungba Block, 70 Mates for Khoupum Block and 102 Mates for Tousem Block including the displaced persons from NC Hill of Assam who had came here in the aftermath of ethnic clashes there.
Recruitment of NREGS Mates was to assist the Village Authority chairman and secretary in the villages but some Mates were recruited the chairman or secretary in some villages.
In the meantime, two days NREGS training for village chairmen, secretaries and Mates for Tousem Block concluded today in the Indoor Stadium, Tamenglong District HQs.
Sumant Singh, IAS Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong, D.Gangmei BDO/PO NREGS Tousem and Acham kamei, PO DRDA Tamenglong and also technical staffs of SDO Tousem were the resource persons during the two day NREGS training.
In all 102 NREGS Mates from Tousem Block, and some village Authority Chairmen and Secretaries participated in the training.
It is learnt that in Tousem Block there are 61 villages and as many as5022 job cards holders are benefiting from the scheme.
