Woman vegetable seller found murdered

Imphal, November 08, 2013:
A 63-year-old woman was found murdered inside her own vegetable shop at Napetpalli in Imphal East district just after midday Friday, according to police.
Chandam Ongbi Momon Devi, separated wife of Chandam Ibochou of Ikou bazaar in Imphal East district, was a vegetable vendor.
She had been staying all alone in a rented house at Napetpalli for the last couple of years.
Her body was found moderately decomposed.
The police said prima facie the murder took place a few days ago because her body had begun to decompose.
Reports said her shop had remained close for the last three days and that she was not seen around the locality.
One of her daughters named Bala who lives in Khurai Lamlong bazaar started to search for her until she was found dead in her bed inside the shop around 12:30 pm Friday.
Deep cut marks apparently caused by sharp objects could be seen in her head.
The body has been brought to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) for post mortem.
Lamlai Police Station has registered a case to start investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, Chingtam Peace & Development Organisation (CPDO) has strongly condemned the murder of the elderly woman and demanded the Government and its related authorities to find out the murder/s and give them befitting punishment.
