One lakh for gold medallists

The Development Committee Andro Kendra today announced cash rewards of Rs one lakh, Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 for players belonging to Andro Assembly segment who win gold, silver and bronze medal respectively in international championships of any discipline.
This was stated by Andro AC MLA Shyamkumar at a felicitation function jointly organised by the Nongpok Ningthou Youth Association (NNYA) Top Chingtha and the Amateur Institute of Wushu, Thoubal district at Yairipok Top Chingtha community hall in honour of Yumnam Sanathoi who won a silver medal in the XIIth World Wushu Championship 2013 held recently.
The MLA also declared a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for Y Sanathoi.
It was a matter of pride for all the people of Andro AC that Sanathoi won a silver medal in the international championship.
Wushu coach Moirangthem Ibomcha was also present at the felicitation function.
Earlier, Wushu player Sanathoi, coach W Bihari and W Sandhyarani were accorded a warm reception at Imphal airport before they were escorted to the felicitation function.
Sanathoi who competed in the 48 Kg category in the XIIth World Wushu Championship held at Kualalumpur, Malaysia from October 28 to November 6 lost the final match to a Vietnamese player.
She won a similar in the last edition of the World Wushu Championship held in Turkey.
She had also won a bronze medal in the Asian championship apart from winning several other medals in many national and international championships.
Mayengbam Chandra Singh and Wangkhem Sandhyarani also won a bronze medal each in the XIIth World Wushu Championship.
