Lamka, July 26, 2012:
In an apparent attempt to distance itself from the spate of extortion notices that have been served to several officials, particularly in the district, the KNLF/KPA today said they had no knowledge about it and denied their involvement as well.
The rumors about extortion, warning and harassment to the general public and officers by the organization were baseless.
The organization has no knowledge, link or involvement in the matter.
It is only meant to tarnish the organization that our people should understand,' said the KNLF statement signed by one Kolphe Kuki.
In their six-point clarification and justification, the KNLF/KPA said the organization was formed in public interest and not for harassing or being troublesome to the public.
It also expressed their intention not to work or stand against any organization but work for the welfare of the society.
Interestingly enough, the KNLF insisted to the fact that they are not a signatory of the SoO but declared, 'we shall give full co-operation and respects the ground rules of the SoO agreement'.
Kolphe also added that those who have surrendered to the Indian Army were not members of the organization.
