Observance of World Toilet Day' concludes

As observed globally, the "World Toilet Day" which has been observing since November 15 in Bishnupur District under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) concluded yesterday and a simple function was organized by District Water & Sanitation Committee (D WSC) Bishnupur in association with PHED Bishnupur with regard to the observance at PHED Conference Hall, Bishnupur District.
The function was attended by Executive Engineer PHED L Gokulchandra Singh, Assistant Engineer Adam and Assistant Engineer A Arun as Presidium members while key members of Water & Sanitation Committee Bishnupur district also attended the function.
While speaking at the occasion, Executive Engineer L Gokulchandra appealed the public to use sanitary toilet while relieving themselves and to wash hand before having their supper to protect from many diseases while adding that the Central Govt continues to fund and make sanitary toilet for the public to stop the menace of open defecation in the country specially in the rural area.
Since 1986, the Central Govt has been building the said toilet but after the initiative did notgive the desire results, the Govt up its ante and started "Total Sanitation Campaign" in 1999 which not only built toilet but also spread awareness about its benefit to the public, followed by "Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan" in 2012, the Executive Engineer added and said that under "Swachh Bharat Mission", the new initiative of the present Govt, which commenced from October 2, 2014, aims to construct toilets for every household in the country and has been able to build toilets for the majority of the people so far.
