Fake organisation busted

Lamphel police have closed down the office of Information Technology and Broadcasting Service Ltd (ITBS), Sangaiprou and arrested four persons on the charge of duping around 2000 youths.
According to a statement issued by Imphal West SP, Lamphel police received an information of duping many persons with the false promise of giving jobs by a group of people under its fictitious organisation namely ITBS in July last year.
The SP said that the group claimed that they are a unit run under Union Ministry of Broadcasting and Information Technology.
They collected huge sum of money from around 2000 youths with the promise of providing jobs.
They not only published advertisements but also held interviews, hired rented office and recruited staff to show them as a genuine organisation to the public, the statement added.
After receiving complaints, Lamphel police filed an FIR against ITBS and began investigation during which the real face of the group was exposed, the statement said.
Their office was raided by police and various incriminating documents were seized, the statement said and added that four persons have been arrested sp far.
The SP also requested to contact SDPO Lamphel if anybody wishes to provide information regarding the case.
