Imphal, May 16 2017:
The importance of Aadhar Card has increased
manifold since its introduction in 2012 with a large number of
Government welfare schemes and services now linked to the individual's
Aadhar Card number.
Taking note of the fact that a large number of people,
specially in remote areas have not registered themselves to
avail Aadhar Card, 45 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles
under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted Aadhar Card
registration and distribution programme in collaboration with
the Department of Information Technology.
In the phase-I, each Company Operating Base of the Battalion
set up registration camps at various villages.
Arrangements were made to bring technical experts and
engineers with biometric machines and computers to these
villages.
More than 600 villagers registered themselves at their register
centres established by 45 Assam Rifles.
The unit also
created a special email address to ensure that the cards are
received and delivered to the beneficiaries.
In the phase-II, all approved cards were printed and handed
over to the respective owner in the villages by 45 Assam
Rifles.
Similar projects are underway under the initiative of 2
Assam Rifles, 6 Assam Rifles and 5 JAK RIF.
