Chajing FC beat Eimi FC to claim Challenge Cup title

Two goals
in the second half saw Chajing
FC coming from behind to beat
Eimi FC in final match of the 19th
Challenge Cup Veteran Football
Tournament 2017 at the Eleven
Star Sporting Union Ground,
Akampat today.
In the keenly contested final
match today, both sides made a
cagey start.
Eimi FC took an
early lead as Jangminlen struck
one in the 4th minute.
It was presumed that the
Eimi veterans had tamed their
rivals as Chajing FC could not
find the equaliser throughout
the first half.
However, Chajing FC made
an unprecedented surge in the
second half and mounted
more pressure on Eimi FC
defence line.
Their frenetic
efforts paid dividends as W
Mohon found the back of
Eimi FC's net in the 31st
minute and restored parity.
The match became more
intensified as both sides
pushed harder to find the
winner.
After series of raids
and counter-raids against
each others' territories,
Chajing FC managed to pull
off an upset for Eimi FC as N
Sagar struck the winner for his
team in the 53rd minute.
Undaunted Eimi FC forwards
made a last ditch
attempt for about 6 minutes
before the end of the regulation
time.
However, Chajing
FC defenders stood firm to
thwart any danger against the
onslaught of their rivals' attackers.
The winners, Chajing FC
walked away richer by Rs
50,000 along with a rolling
trophy while the runners up
got Rs 30,000 along with a
rolling trophy.
An individual prize of Rs
3000 each was also presented
to the winners during the
prize distribution ceremony.
Thangjamang of Eimi FC
was adjudged the best goalkeeper
while Napolean of
Eimi FC won the best defender
award.
The best midfielder award
was presented to S Budha of
Chajing FC and Jangminlen
of Eimi FC was not only adjudged
the best striker, but
also won the top scorer
award.
W Mohon of Chajing
FC was declared the most
valuable player while the best
player award went to Kh
Sanaton of Chajing FC.
The fair play award was
given to SHDSVA, Sadar
Hills.
