Manipur observes AFC Grassroot Day

Imphal, May 16 2017:
As in
other parts of Asian
countries, people observed
the AFC Grassroot Football
Day in various parts of
Manipur today.
Under the theme of 'Let
Us Play', All Manipur
Football Association
commemorated the day with
a girls' exhibition football
match at the artificial turf
ground in Khuman Lampak
as part of the observation.
AMFA President S
Sanatomba graced the
occasion as the chief
guest.
May 15 is AFC
Grassroots Day � a day
promoted and celebrated
by the Asian Football
Confederation to
strengthen and encourage
grassroots football
activities and participation.
It is celebrated to promote
the concept that
'grassroot' is the foundation
of football
development.
The observation aims to
raise the quality of
football and players in
Asia and to take the
standard of participation
to a global level.
One of
its primary objectives is
to sort out the problems
that the Asian countries
are facing in mastering the
beautiful game.
District Football
Association, Thoubal and
District Sports Association,
Kakching observed
the day with the AFC's
grassroot football development
programme.
Th
Birchandra Football
Academy also organised a
programme at its centre in
Tabungkhok.
At THAU Ground,
Thangmeiband, Veteran
Sports Association, Imphal
held a programme under
the guidance of AFC-A
license coach Wangkhem
Khogen.
With the sponsorship of
brand amabassador Th
Naoba, VSAI
Thangmeiband also
observed the grassroot
football development
programme.
At
Khurkhul, Imphal West
Football Association
celebrated the day with a
programme attended by a
number of young players
from Lamdeng region.
The day was also
observed at YGC
playground, Wakhong,
Imphal East under the
aegis of All Manipur
Football Association.
