South East Asian Films Festival kicks off in Ukhrul

Imphal, May 16 2017:
A 5-day South East Asian
Films Festival was today inaugurated
today by Dr Yaronso
Ngalung, Chairman, Autonomous
Council, Ukhrul district
at Town Hall, Ukhrul.
The festival is organized
by Film Society of Manipur
in association with Tangkhul
Music and Film Association,
Ukhrul, Directorate of Information
and Public Relations,
Government of Manipur and
Department of Tourism, Government
of Manipur.
Chief guest Dr Yaronso
Ngalung said that films are a
medium of highlighting the
culture and lifestyle of the
people and importance of
films in society needs to be
promoted.
He appreciated the State
Government and Film Society
of Manipur for organising
such event in Ukhrul district.
Meghachandra Kongbam,
Director, IPR, Manipur and
Ng Ngashanngam, president,
Tangkhul Music and Film
Association, Ukhrul also attended
the inaugural event as
president and guest of honour.
Minister Counsellor
(Commercial) of Royal Thai
Embassy Tharadon
Thongraung also attended the
function.
Various Manipuri, Thailand,
Myanmar and Taiwan
films will be screened during
the festival.
Tangkhul documentary
film 'Kungyee' directed by
Chaoba Thiyam and film
'Thotkha Mirin Khani' directed
by Riyo Varam were
screened today.
A 2-day demonstration
workshop on ABC of
Filmmaking will be held on
May 18 and 19.
The valedictory function of
the festival will be held May
20 .
