A one day consultation programme on politics, development and welfare was organised at Ningthi village under the initiative of Ningthi Katamnao Long and Ningthi Youth Club.
Ukhrul ADC Member RS Ngaranchui graced the programme as the chief guest.
Speaking at the programme, RS Ngaranchui emphasised on the need to make a right decision and associate with the authority concerned in order to bring growth and development in society.
He said that people should also get involved in State governance and added that public grievances should be addressed at the right platform so that the State Government can initiate required steps on on priority basis.
In order to bring development at the grassroots level, villagers should also pursue, report and approach the authorities with their demands, he added.
Social worker Pamreiso Shimray said that the programme has been organised in order help and highlight the villagers on ways to approach the authorities concerned in connection with any developmental initiative.
He said that "politics" can be considered as "tree" while "development and welfare" can be considered as "fruits" .
During the programme, the villagers held a discussion on various pertaining political issues in the State including the Indo-Naga peace process.
The villagers also raised questions on the controversial ILP Bills passed last year, reservation for Scheduled Tribes in Manipur University and free and fair election in the upcoming Assembly elections.
