Moreh, March 30 2020:
Villagers of Mortha, a village which is located around 7 Kilometers from Moreh at the border between India and Myanmar, have expressed concern and disappointment at the failure of the State Government and the authorities concerned to initiate the necessary protocol, even though they (authorities) were informed about an individual who had recently returned to the village from Rangoon, Myanmar.
Speaking to media persons regarding the dilemma faced by the villagers, Mortha village chief, WS Molun Anal, narrated that a student who had gone for studies to Rangoon, returned to his native village about a week ago and the people could not deny entry of the individual as his family is from the village.
However, even though the village authority informed the authorities about the situation and appealed for sending necessary teams and doctors to check or quarantine the individual, not a single response has been received till date, he lamented.
Condemning the careless attitude of the authorities, who should be rushing to prevent any instances of COVID-19, the village chief appealed to the State Government to do the needful at the earliest in order to ensure safety and wellbeing of the entire villagers.
