State mulls more COVID-19 test

The State is considering to conduct more tests as additional COVID-19 test kits, masks and PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) have arrived, said Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu today.
Presiding a meeting of healthcare authorities, RIMS and JNIMS officials at Old Secretariat conference hall, Dr J Suresh Babu said COVID-19 tests kits, masks and PPE were airlifted to meet the State's requirement.
Stating that the State will be conducting more tests, he informed that seven family members of the 23-year-old COVID-19 patient were tested negative yesterday.
Samples of five other family members have been sent for testing, he added.
It may be noted that the State had confirmed its first and lone COVID-19 case on March 24.The virus has infected more than 739,385 and killed 35,019 people.
The cases in India have risen to 1,071.USA has the most number of cases - 142,793 .
