Court proceedings suspended from April 1 to 14

Taking stock of the prevalent situation arising out of the 21 days Nation-wide lockdown announced by the Central Government, the High Court of Manipur has issued a notice suspending all normal sittings of the High Court and the District Courts from April 1 to 14 .
A notice issued by the Registrar (Judicial) today explained that in case of matter of extreme urgency, the Division Bench and Single Bench will be constituted on an appropriate request by the counsel or party as per direction of the available senior most Judges.
It instructed the respective District and Session Judges to prepare a roster of Judicial Officers for dealing with remand matters, bail and urgent Civil and Criminal matters.
The District and Session Judges concerned will upload necessary directions on the Court website, it recommended.
Stating that all the Presiding Officers of Tribunal, Family Courts and Special Courts must designate Judge for dealing with urgent matter, it continued that Member Secretary, MASLSA can designate appropriate individual for taking up urgent legal aid matter.
It then instructed that matters already listed up to April 14 be adjourned en-bloc to subsequent dates and also to upload related information in the website of the District Judges, apart from ensuring that the information are diaplayed on the notice boards as well.
The notice further announced that Manipur Judicial Academy will suspend all its training programmes till April 14.Interim orders granted by the High Court and District Courts for a specified date will be extended till the next date of effective hearing.
As such, limitation for any Court proceedings will not run with effect from March 15 until further notice, it mentioned, adding that this arrangement will be reviewed from time to time.
